TITLE: The Story of Bobo, Marka and Uncle Yafeu. | Previous Challenge Entry

“All I know is God is calling, and we must go. I need to have you take care of the twins.”
“I am their uncle. They should be raised by their mother and father.”
“Listen, Yafeu, God has called Reta and I, we will stop when God tells us and we will return when He allows.”
“Have you told Bobo and Marka yet? Do they know you are abandoning them and leaving them with their uncle?”
“I thought the three of us would tell them together.”
The two brothers walked into the clearing. Reta was a good distance away from the youngsters sitting by herself. She arose and walked to them.
“Yafeu, will you do it?”
“Of course I will. I just don’t understand why God would have two wonderful parents like yourselves just up and leave their young ones.”
When the young ones saw the three of them approaching, they ran toward them yelling “Yafeu!”
When they met, the youngsters jumped and pawed at their uncle.
“Have you come to play with us?” Bobo and Marka yelled in unison.
“Listen here my twins. Mommy and Daddy have something very important to tell you.” Reta interrupted.
Gamba, the head of this proud family spoke to his only two offspring, “Bobo, my son, Marka, my daughter. God has called us, your mother and I, we must leave and follow God’s call. God has told us that we must leave you both behind.”
Through eyes of desperation the twins spoke, “No father.” said Bobo.
“When will you leave?” asked Marka.
Gamba continued to talk, “God has given us today to set our affairs in order and we will be leaving in the morning. You will be staying with your uncle.”
Dazed looks of disbelief and despair overcame the faces of the twins but they said nothing more, understanding that they could not argue with God.
The following morning Reta was up early and readied zebra meat, the twins’ favorite breakfast.
A long good-bye, then Gamba and Reta slowly disappeared in the forest leaving their twins with uncle Yafeu.
“We could follow them.” Bobo broke the silence.
“What?”
“We could follow them. We could see where God has called them. Momma has been teaching Marka tracking skills. She could lead us.”
“She is only a youngster.”
“Uncle Yafeu, I can do it. I can follow mom and dad’s trail. They would never know.” said the female.
“Well, I reckon we need something to do today. But I am telling you, if we lose the trail, we come right back here. Agreed?”
With eyes as wide as coconuts the twins jumped to their feet, “Yes, Uncle we agree.”
With that, the three headed into the forest led by the young Marka. Broken branches, prints in the sand, these plus other clues led our adventurers. Then on the morning of the seventh day the trio came to a clearing and Marka stopped so fast the two males bumped into her.
“There they are, look!” whispered Marka.
Yafeu, looked into the clearing from the woods and gave his niece and nephew words of warning. “There are people out there. People are nothing but evil. We must not be seen. We must not be captured like your parents.”
The twin lion cubs ran toward their mom and dad. Protective uncle Yafeu took off after them in hot pursuit but it was to late. The cubs met their parents just as Gamba and Reta placed their giant paws on the ramp.
Noah was confused but he said nothing. He only observed as the lion family seemed to be comforting each other.
“Gamba, I don’t understand.”
“This is where God has brought us. God has chosen me and Reta to be the parents of all lions after us.”
“What about your son and daughter?”
“They will go with the rest of all living creatures. Explain to them that they will see mommy and daddy again someday, but it will be after they have arrived with the Lord.”
“When will these things be?”
“Soon.”
Reta, who had been playing with the cubs stopped suddenly and told her children, “Go with your uncle now.”
Cubs and uncle retreated to the edge of the forest. They watched as God closed the door.
“Uncle Yafeu! Did you feel that?” asked Bobo, “It felt like a drop of water fell from the sky.”
