I am from Ohio, and have a degree in Biological Sciences, with minors in German and Religion from Lee University. I have been a Home Educator for nearly 10 years. We have just finished our home education journey. Before becoming a mom, I worked as a Technician II in Reproductive and Teratology lab studies.
I have several Challenge article entries waiting for future publication in the FaithWriters Anthologies. I have also had an article published in Pathway Press's April, 2009 issue of the Church of God Evangel magazine titled "They Shaped My Life", and an article published in the December 2007 issue of FaithWriters magazine.(Exit Quickly, Stage Right)
My current work in progress is a coming of age novel set in turbulent 1960's America titled "The Powerful Odor of Mendacity". I am in the revision/editing process with it now.
I also have a finished Amish novel. This is a story about a girl who decides to leave her Amish faith...and the consequences of her decision. I am also involved with Mission to Amish People whose goal is to bring the gospel to Amish and ex-Amish. MAP also aids those who leave their Amish communities by offering practical help in getting established in the English world. My novel is based on the many stories and experiences I have gleaned from these ex-Amish young people. I also have Amish in-laws from the Holmes County, Ohio area who have been tremendous and loving models for some of my Amish characters. I am currently outlining a new book that will be a sequel to the first Amish novel.
I am represented by literary agent Terry Burns of the Hartline Literary Agency
I am available to speak to women's groups in the Ohio area about my Amish experiences. If you'd like to contact me, I do have Private Messenger here at FaithWriters, or go to my blog, My Heart's Dee-Light, and contact me through email there. I also am available on the FaithWriters Message Boards with my user name as "Dee".
Thank you for reading my work, and may God bless each reader with His love and peace!
