At least, that’s what I’m told.
I’ve questions swirling in my mind
Of my forebears of old.
Did my ancestors long ago
Live royally in castles,
Or did they dwell on thatch-roofed farms,
Or did they serve as vassals?
Did they climb the high Munros
Or go fishing in the loch?
Did they catch a glimpse of Nessie
And then almost die of shock?
Did they ever toss a caber,
Dance a lively Highland fling,
Play a game of golf or rugby,
Or that squeaky bagpipe thing?
Did my progenitor wear kilts
To represent his clan,
And tuck a knife inside his sock,
As well-dressed Scottish man?
Did some drink potent potables
(Reports say many did),
Or hang with shady notables
Like well-known Captain Kidd?
Did young wee lads and lassies
(I am guessing this is sure),
Admire from a distance
Pretty thistles on the moor?
Whatever is my heritage
From Scotland’s noble land,
Amazing is my pedigree
From lineage that is grand.
Ancestors that I’ve thought about
It would be fun to know.
Perhaps I’ll meet some godly ones
In heaven when I go.

What a great title, too!
