I liked your POV very much. I did expect more of a reason for the growl, however - to me it felt just a little anti-climatic.
An original idea for sure. It's funny how we want to figure out what animals are thinking. I always tell my kids "Don't put human emotions on an animal. " But I'll admit I do it all the time.
I say the same thing when humans try to think like God.
With a little more explanation, I believe you have the makings of a great children's devotional. It could make an interesting topic for a family to discuss.
Your POV worked well, I'm a sucker for big brown puppy dog eyes. It might have been good to have revealed a reason for Sammy's behaviour, especially considering your title. That aside, I did enjoy your entry.
I liked your story, too. But I didn't need any other reason why Sammy didn't like Mr. Henderson. You're right, sometimes I just don't like somebody--for reasons even unknown to myself. Who can explain? Just God. Which is why I give those kinds of puzzles to Him and allow Him to let me see people as He does--something Sammy can't do.
Loved the way you referred to Sammy's master as Top Dog : ) Very insightful into the mind of these lovable creatures. I enjoyed, too, hearing Sammy's thoughts and his matter-of-fact way of reasoning his dislike for some people. A lesson we could all use from time to time.
