If I could see as God sees,
I would understand the reasons
For the disappointing failures
Of the heroes of the faith,
Like King David, mighty warrior,
Who stooped so low to sin,
And Peter, Christ’s apostle,
Who denied that he knew Him.
If I could see as God sees,
I would realize the answers
For all the “why’s” I’ve wondered
At the sorrows of the world:
Why the righteous people suffer,
And the evil people thrive,
And some profane the law of God
As long as they’re alive.
If I could see as God sees,
I would weep for man’s condition:
For the people of His chosen race
Who disclaim His only Son,
For all the lost souls in the world
Who cannot see the light,
For the poor and brokenhearted’s
Cry of sorrow through the night.
If I could see as God sees,
I would love just like He does
Both the followers of Jesus
And the folks in Satan’s grip.
Oh, let me grasp Your vision, Lord,
With love for everyone,
To remember that although man sins,
Our image is Your own.
