Megawatt thought for a moment and decided, “Three problems, three teams. Coldfide and Amazing Girl will deal with the house fire, Diamond, Blue Flame and Mariness can handle the action by the dock. Gravtron and I will help the ambulance.” The others didn’t argue and flew off in different directions.
Megawatt and Gravitron were closest to their assigned area and wen they got their on of the ambulance attendants was using a defibrillator on the patient. His partner was looking at an indicator and said, sadly, “Hope this shock helps, we’re going to be out of power after this hit.”
After the jolt didn’t do anything , the first attendant sa“JIll, back to basics, I’ll do chest compressions, you breath for him.”
At that moment Megawatt knocked on the rear door and shouted, “Let me try!” Jill shrugged as she had heard about the bank robbery and the costumed people who caught the crooks for the cops.
Megawatt placed his hands on the man’s chest and said, Clear!” There was a brief flash of light and the heart monitor started up its slow steady rhythm. Megawatt called out the open door, “OK, Grabitron, let’s get these people to the hospital, pronto.”
Gravitron yelled back, “Everybody hang on, I’ve never lifted such a large object with a null-gravity field before.” The two attendants, deciding that it would be prudent to listen, strapped themselves in. Megawatt, and the driver all save the ambulance get covered with a silvery glow then it was airborne. THe driver suggested to land the ambulance on the roof as it was closer to the cardiac care wing. After Megawatt relayed the suggestion to Gravitton and told the driver of the latter’s agreement, the driver radioed ahead for a trauma ream to wait for them on the roof.
As he flew the ambulance, Gravitron mused, “God really is in control, Megawatt knew how much juice to shock the guy with and I knew exactly what the strength of my null-gravity field to use so it didn't rocket off into the sky or make the ride too rough. And there was the way we seemed to just know how to use our powers at the bank, we were adept in the use of our powers from the get-go.”
On the other side of town Coldfire and Amazing Girl had arrived at the fire. The police didn’t notice them at first as they were too busy keeping the parents from rushing into the burning house for their daughter. The firefighter in charge noticed them as they landed near the burning house, “Hey, I don’t have time for kids playing dress up. Back off!’
Coldfire,,ignoring him ,said , “With my thermal vision I’ve found the girl, and she’s got her kitten, if I make a hole in the fire can you reach in and get them out?”
Not waiting for an answer, Coldfire concentrated and a yard wide hole in the flames was created, Amazing Girl grew to about fifty feet tall and reached in with her long ams and gently enclosed the girl and the kitten in a lavender fist. After lifting the child clear she placed her by her relieved parents as the girl saud, “I was rescued my a nice giant, just like I tried to rescue Mittens. She's not a bad giant like in the stories, right?”
The mother responded through her tears, “Yes, honey she is a very good giant.”
Amazing Girl’s back was to the house and she was very close when a wall fell outward. Coldfire called out for her new friend only to find that Amazing Girl had landed on her shoulder.
Returning to her normal height, Amazing Girl said, “Saw that wall fall towards me, could have stayed large but I was worried about the debris hitting other people, so I instinctively shrunk down and dodged it. Think you ought to put out the fire before someone does get hurt?”
Instead of answering Coldfire summoned the fire into her body.
