If allowed, adeptness can be a curse
As it puts each of us under pressure
Because being adept at your trade
Takes hard work, disrupts your leisure
Each of us wants to be the best
At the vocation that we have chosen
No matter where we call home
Whether sunshine or terrain frozen
Adeptness always comes our way
If we do our work unto the Lord
With His help, we always do our best
Because we are in one accord
Working as one, you make no mistakes
Because he will always show the way
Making your vocation a joy to behold
As he leads you throughout the day
You may be playing in the Super Bowl
Or completing a corporate merger
Teaching a class of high school students
Or cooking the world’s best burger
You may be known as a great dad
The apple of your children’s eye
With the Lord silently by your side
Parental success you can’t deny
Adeptness comes to those who learn
That they can’t succeed on their own
They’ve learned they need a partner
Once united, they are never alone
