Immediately, she knelt by the bed repented of her sins, and rededicated her life to Christ. Still smitten by Jesus’ love she woke the children and shared the love of Jesus with them and all five committed their lives to Christ that night.
Then she told them that Jesus is the only hope for their father’s healing, so they would all lay their hand him and pray for him. All obeyed and called on the Lord for hours with a simple prayer:
“Jesus heal father.”
The next morning their father had an appetite for food. This was a welcome miracle because the cancer had consumed his stomach that he was unable to eat. By the weekend he was completely healed.
To share this great news, she sent the children with invitations to all family members and neighbors to come to the house. On their arrival all were stunned to see mister Yun healed. The family members came prepared for a funeral because they knew the doctors told his wife that she should prepared for his death.
China was now Communist so the gospel was not encouraged and any proponents of the gospel of Jesus Christ could be imprisoned or even crucified so all precautions were taken to prevent any suspicion of any gathering. So, when they were all indoors, the doors were locked, and all windows were covered.
Mistress Yun told the gathering how every member of the household prayed, and Jesus healed her husband. They rejoiced. Then she shared the good news of the love of Jesus Christ with them. She pointed out to them that they too can have this love. All accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. This was the birth of her house church ministry.
Although she was illiterate and did not know much of the Bible because she did own one but the Holy Spirit, brought back to her remembrance what was taught by the missionaries when she first accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour in her twenties.
Her son, Brother Yun or the “Heavenly man” is just one of the ministers who is a testament to the impactful and faithful life of his mother’s Christian walk.
Both Mistress Yun’s and the prophet Elijah’s experiences are comparable. Elijah was at his lowest in faith, and fearful of Jezebel threats so he took his servant and went to Beersheba. Then he left his servant walked to the wilderness and sat down, he prayed:
“Take my life, I might as well be dead!”
Eventually, the Lord told him to stand before him on top of the mountain where he experienced a furious wind that spilt the hills and shattered the rocks. Then an earthquake came, then a fire all these elements went because the Lord was not present.
It was “after the fire, there was a soft whisper of a voice.” 1Kings 19:12b Good News Bible. He told the Lord about his faithfulness to him, and his fear of being killed. The Lord gave him work and reassured him of his keeping care.
Mistress Yun situation seemed dismal with the prospect of her husband dying, leaving her with the children who were already affected by the political regime, and starvation. All the children had to beg food to survive. Like the prodigal she surrendered, and a newfound love enveloped her, and she ministered to her household and health and salvation.
Both rose in faith and acted, and lives were impacted just because each heard a soft voice of love.
