Topic: SLOTH (indolence; laziness) (01/29/15)
In the world of beavers, Buck was an anomaly. Kicked back in his hammock, strung between two trees, daily he could be seen eating tree limbs, the way people eat corn-on-the-cob. While his mate and four kits busily gnawed down trees, and floated them downriver, he would waterproof his fur with oil from his gland.

When his mate nagged him for being lazy, Buck said, “What do you mean, honey? I love work. I could watch it all day.”

Once, when the kits were whining about having to build the pond, canals, and lodge without the old man’s help, Buck explained that he was the supervisor.

Another time, when his mate smacked her tail on the water, and verbally lambasted him for tracking mud in, Buck told her he would clean it up tomorrow. Then he enlightened her, explaining his philosophy of life: “Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow. That way, if tomorrow doesn’t come, you haven’t wasted all that energy.”

This is a creative children's story. It would better with a little more conflict/trouble. I like the corn-on-the-cob description. Try to use more of your own comparisons. I can see this made into a children's book with a little more work.
