enter Maitrina: (urgently, she pulls open all the drapes around the bed) Wake up Princess Inertia, you must answer the royal call.
She looks at the massive library as she awaits the princess’ response. She thinks, what a waste. She’s never read even one.
She shakes her again.
Princess: (sleepily) Let me sleep just one more hour in the bed. (She rolls over with a sigh)
Mairina: You always say that and you never get up. You must have tea with clergy today.
Princess: No I mustn’t. The bed is so warm. You go for me.
Maitrina: I really shouldn’t keep doing this for you. It’s not right.
Princess: You look just like me, they will never know the difference.
Maitrina: But it’s for your own good that you go. Don’t waste away in the bed.
Princess: I’m not wasting away, the bed has been very good to me. It doesn’t ask a think of me!
Next day
Maitrina: Wake up Princess, you must make the rounds to visit the poor and needy today. It’s your duty to show charity. . .for the family name.
Princess: I didn’t make them poor and needy. Not my problem. I cannot make a difference anyway, there’s way too many of them and they never ever get better. Besides, you know I cannot be in crowds. No, I’ll stay in the bed. You go.
Next day
Maitrina: Princess, you absolutely must attend the royal breakfast. Your aunt is getting married in a couple of weeks and there needs to be discussion.
Princess: When did this occur?
Maitrina: I’ve been telling you about her wedding for months. You never listen. Here is your dress, now get ready.
Princess: I can’t get ready by myself. You help me.
Maitrina: Your mother said I must help in the kitchen this morning. You will have to do it by yourself this time.
2 hours later
Maitrina: (the princess is sleeping away) Why are you still in the bed?
Princess: I can’t possible get ready by myself, you know that. I thought I’d nap until you returned.
Sunday morning
Maitrina: Princess, please get up. Your father is insisting that you come down.
Princess: (With one eye open, she listens) Do I hear rain? You know how I adore the bed when it’s raining. I love how the covers hug me.
Maitrina: That’s the problem, you always adore the bed.
Suddenly, the door flies opens. It startles the princess and she jumps out of the bed.
The King enters: Enough Inertia! You are being quite sinful lying around in the bed all the time. Why you’re just wasting away. Get up!
Princess: (rubbing her eyes) Why I am up father, see.
The King: Get dressed. I love you much too much to let you just lie here. I have a kingdom to share with you but I can’t share it with you if you insist on sleeping away every waking hour.
Princess: I don’t need anything else. I’m quite content to stay right here. It’s comfortable. I don’t have to get mad or sad or, well anything here.
The King: I want to show you.
Princess: Show me what.
The King: You’ll see. Get dressed!
Maitrina helps the princess get dressed. That morning her father takes her for a walk around the castle grounds. While walking with her father, her eyes are opened and she sees all the beautiful flowers, all the butterflies fluttering around and the big, bright yellow sun.
Princess: The bed shall never look the same to me again.
The very next day
Maitrina goes to the bedroom of the princess, but she is not in the bed and the bed is made. She runs downstairs.
The princess is dressed and sitting at the dining room table eating breakfast.
Maitrina: Why, there you are.
Princess: I arose and made my bed and I will walk wherever I need to walk
to the clergy. . .
to the needy. . .
to the wedding!
So what are the plans for today?

I like the descriptive names, too.
I'm glad that the princess had a change of heart, but I think it would be more effective if she saw something specifically on her walk that changed her.
