I Met My Father Through Dad

Because of his devotion, his love for Jesus Christ
Because he didn’t send me, but took me, each Sunday of my young life.
Because of his example, never straying from Gods path.
He led to Christ Jesus.
I met my Father through Dad.

Reaching adolescence, I rebelled - as most do.
Dad scolded with reason, his words always soft and few.
He new from his life that I’d make choices - often wrong.
His handling of crisis showed the love that he had.
He led to Christ Jesus
I met my Farther through Dad.

Dad fought many battles, both in war and in life.
Those in war were while lost, God’s hand covered each struggle and fight
Once saved, never faulting, his faith carried through.
Dad owned all the traits each father should have.
He led to Christ Jesus
I met my Father through Dad.

I often wished, I’d known dad in his youth. A curiosity we all may have had.
But then I wouldn’t be blessed with having him as my Dad.
Where that would have left me, I’m frightened to know
When it comes to my dad, enough good can’t be said
He led to Christ Jesus
I met my Father through Dad.

Dad is now gone. Memories, are all I have left.
Hunting and fishing, his laughter and wit.
I told him I loved him but not nearly enough.
I miss you so Daddy - yet thankful and glad
You led to Christ Jesus
I’ll meet with my Father - reunite with my Dad.
