Some say it’s a symbol of God’s eye of protection always over us, instilled from when the original 13 colonies of America were established. Others say it represents the Illuminati, and then others say that it was a knockoff of an Egyptian hieroglyph. Others just think it’s a cool symbol and want it inked on their bodies in a hidden place.
However, I’d like to present a different angle on the subject: A reminder for us to be looking at the One Who provides us the money. After all, it’s His money. Of course, He didn’t physically print it or manufacture the one dollar bills; however, our God IS the One we trust in as our Jehovah Jireh—our Provider.
We are to see God in all things. We are to “keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on Whom our faith depends from beginning to end.” (Heb. 12:2 GNT) Not that we should keep our eyes “fixed” on money, but fixed on our Lord, trusting in His matchless providencial supply of goodness and prosperity.
We already know the Lord sees and hears us. He is El Roi, “the God Who sees me.” Hagar acknowledged that in Genesis 16:13 after she ran away to the desert and later had an encounter with the Lord, Who saw her, heard her cries, and responded.
Whatever our heart or voice cry out for, we can be sure our God sees and hears us. Currency will change, governments change, situations change. One thing that has never changed and never will is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Heb. 13:8) KJV
May we be people who always look to Him for provision, to Him for protection, and to Him for our peace. May we keep our eyes on things above, and be reminded to do so every time we see a one dollar bill.
