I have been dreaming of home again. I know the Lord is faithful, but I cannot sustain this much longer. My mind is constantly ruminating, yearning to correct things. Adam tries to settle me, but it is all I desire.
Nothing compares to the sweet floral fragrance of Father’s garden. I long for the days we feasted on juicy, crisp, imperishable pears. The serenity of nature has departed; though there is life, I feel emptiness.
Memories of effortlessly tending to nature and its inhabitants. Creatures of all types exhibited gentleness and affection. I remember stroking a lion. His mane tickled my fingers like prairie grass.
I’m sick of fearing those who were my companions. I want to go back! Why did I listen to that serpent? What is wrong with me?
The garden was perfect! Every minute was matchless in bliss and faultlessness. I felt no fear.
Why did I not question the serpent? His strange voice somehow appeared calm and sure. I let a simple chat lead me to a choice that caused cataclysmic complications. I committed the most wretchedly deplorable mistake in history! Fooled by the wiles of unparalleled evil. While seeking wisdom, we found foolishness.
Oh, how I regret that day! How I wish I had grasped the magnitude beforehand! Nothing but excellence filled our previous existence. No negative consequence had fallen upon us. If only I had sought guidance if I had thought to question. I held no definition of deceit. Oh! The torture of the earth lies at my feet! Not one-second ticks by that I do not mourn that decision.
I can no longer bear this shame. Daily, I witness the agony of my offspring, mindful that I am its cause. The depth of my despair is only surpassed by the repugnancy of my iniquity.
Yet God still displays favor to me. I do not understand! Why does He have compassion for the mother of pain? To whom can I compare a Father like this? The seed yet seen is the rescue of my barren soul. Still, I do not understand how my wickedness escapes the notice of a just Lord?
