I fervently pray for/to and honor God, His Son Jesus, His Holy Spirit that INdwells me, His Word, His church, my Pastor, parents, wife, family, country, elected leaders, teachers, and the opinions of others.
God’s Word instructs His children to: “Honour [respect,obey] thy father and mother… Eph 6:2 kjv Although they preceded me to Paradise almost 50 years ago, I daily honor my parents by praising them to others and quoting their wise sayings to the younger people who help me care for my invalid wife of 72 years.
One of their constant truths is: “99.9% of this wicked world’s problems stem from one person not understanding the other.” If only we listened and repeated back to the other person our understanding, this God dishonoring world would improve dramatically.
From India, a manager of a clothing factory could only be properly understood by repeating back understanding of his words. Some managers would have been insulted. He expressed his appreciation at being so honored. A part time college student practiced that. He became the most sought after employee by the other 300 workers.
When witnessed to about the Gospel, the manager practiced that. He would reply, “You mean this….?” Eventually, he received Jesus’ love GIFT of salvation and became an honorable small town citizen.
All of God’s truly born again children are eagerly awaiting the Rapture trumpet sound. After Jesus catches us up, six times, God’s Word tells us that we are recorded as praising Him. What a happy eternity in heaven, “... saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God…” Rev 19:10b kjv
In Luke 14:8-11 kjv, Jesus warned that striving for the front row often results in being replaced with a “... more honourable…” late arriving guest. In verse 11, Jesus said, “For whoso ever exalteth himself shall be abased.”
I was invited by our Governor and Congressman to accompany them on a helicopter survey of tornado damage. That is, until His Honor our Mayor arrived and bumped me. I never was “...exhalted…” nor ever rode on a helicopter. They apologized but not the Mayor. It was my fault. I helped him run for office.
Honor, agape love and respect of our Pastor encourages him like nothing else. In 1 Tim 5:17 csb, “The elders who are good leaders are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.” My Pastor leads our church his 45th year. He preaches/teaches God’s Word. As God’s undershepherd, he cares for God’s people. He fits my definition of Pastor.
Being one of many that have disagreed with him, the disagreement is strictly kept between us. I respect his biblical interpretation.
