Chanan and Nechama had invited many of their friends. I arrived early to give a helping hand wherever I could; others had the same idea. The kitchen was a busy, with the chattering of women as they prepared the meal. The auditorium was noisy with the clatter of chairs and round tables strategically placed around the room. Both male and female adults and children participated in the preparations.
It never occurred to anyone of us that we were there for a purpose. We all had a significant role in the staging of this special feast. Even the children waited with smiles of great anticipation. Finally the linens were placed on the tables, and we, the guests were invited to sit.
We waited for Chanan, our host to begin. A hush of silence fell like a moment of anointed prayer, a cloud of Glory entered the entire room. Our host stood and nodded his head and one by one each guest stood to introduce themselves. Several were Chinese believers and their families whom I had the privilege of meeting earlier. Next an Israeli couple who lived in Toronto; a Russian Mennonite family with two sons, who to our delight had been invited to play their violins. There were two Nigerian families who had just moved into the region. We were from various faiths as well, Messianic Believers, Brethren, Catholic, Mennonite and Lutheran.
Chanan explained the various steps to the Passover. The 15 steps took up most of the evening. We read passages from scripture and we sang songs. The Seder meal was quite interesting, we ate bitter herbs, veggies dipped in salt water, we drank wine, the matzot bread was broken and hidden and the children had to find it.
When we remain in Christ Jesus, then we are in the will of His Father. Only then can there be true equality. This is my thoughts on Galatians 3:28.

It sounded as though it was a blessed event.
This story has a lot of potential. However, the hook is weak and filled with passive verbs. Get the reader into the story. Get them smelling the smells, get them into excited anticipation. Reduce the amount of description so you can concentrate more on the lesson delivered. Insert dialog. That always drives a story forward.
