I flipped on the stereo and then walked into the kitchen. I'm not sure why I wanted to fill the house with music. Without realizing it, I was about to completely tune it out with all of my engrossing worries. I turned on the water and stacked the dirty pots in the sink, a task I had heedlessly performed a gazillion times. As the water filled the sink, I found my mind filling with the usual divergent contemplations. I tried to capture one slippery thought at a time but they just kept marching on like an unfriendly parade. Did we have enough to cover the mortgage this month or would we go over in our checking account again? Why hadn't my son called me back? It feels like he's MIA. I know he wants to be independent but I miss him so much and I sense he's having a difficult time of it since he transferred out of the army. I wish he would confide in me more and didn't live so far away. I wonder how My friend Katrina and her husband are doing. They've been struggling so much recently and have even been considering divorce. I offered up a puff of a prayer. I noticed the pain then, crawling up my back. Ever since the accident a month ago it had advanced into a continual ache. The physical therapy had reordered my life as of late. Don't forget to thaw out the hamburger for dinner I reminded myself and then I remembered I needed to buy some fruit for the salad I was making for church on Wednesday. Oh yea that's right, I can't because...my thoughts were overridden by the eructing phone. I dried my soapy hands on the dish towel and snatched it up. It was the auto-garage letting me know they had assessed the damage for Moses. My nick name for my 2001 Taurus. Twelve hundred I heard the stranger on the other end of the line say. I stopped listening after I heard that number. Am I suppose to pay him in rubber bands, Lord? My heart started pulsating and not in a good way. Now what are we going to do? I just don't understand why these things are happening. I yanked my focus back to what he was saying and told him I would have to have my husband call him back. I capsized in the nearest chair. Minutes passed...when a song so unexpectedly entangled my attention. As the music flirted with my heavy heart, I began to absorb the words into me and I remembered who I am and I smiled. I sensed the Lord beckoning me. It was a song about dancing. I heard Him whispering words laden with honey into my ear. An invitation just for me. "Dance with me Oh precious one." In my spirit I reached for Him. His beauty and tenderness immediately captivated me. My heart fluttered on a thousand butterfly wings as if I was on my first date. He steadied me and drew me close. The song enveloping us in this eternal moment. The heaviness left, the concerns all drained away and in their place were the sparkling bubbles of joy tingling inside. I let Him lead me in the dance. His presence expanding in me like the most fragrant bubble bath. Swaying to His words, their effect undoing me. Washing away all the unnecessary. And I worshipped right there in His arms.

Thank God for His way of sending those little messages of peace.
I loved how your words unfolded reality of the "world" and distractions. The segue that lead into the infinite love of communing and being with the Sovereign God, enveloped in a dance that transcends time.
Excellent! One of my favorites this week!
