“Just five more minutes!…I need one more level….”
“Get off that game… You’ve been at it for hours. All the other kids out there are going to bed too.”
“But Mom!…Let me say bye to all of my buddies online first!”
“Don’t back sass me! You have one minute till I pull the plug. The game will be there when you get back. Plus, it’s a school night and your grades aren’t that great either. If your not off when I get out of the bathroom…Your grounded.”
*Five minutes go by*
“Alexsis Rae!..(Pulls the plug on the computer)”
“Mom! I can’t believe you just did that!….Stop! You can’t just take my computer like that! (Gives her mom an evil stare)”
“When I get back in here we are going to have a long chat about how ugly your attitude has been the past few weeks.”
“(Mom walks back into the bedroom) Now, tell me what is the matter Alex? The Bible says to honor your mother and father, not talk back to them and stare them down.”
“I know Mom, I’m sorry. It’s just… I really love that game, I’ve tried to cut back on how much I play, but I loose track of time. Like I don’t even realize what time it is or anything like that… I just get so consumed into that glorious game.”
“No Alex, if you’re getting so consumed into a game that you don’t even realize what time it is, there is something wrong. Have you been praying lately?”
“…Not as much as I should…I guess I’ve kind of been forgetting.”
“I’m encouraging you to read the Bible and pray every day. I’ll research that game of yours and see if it’s an appropriate game for you to be playing. Tomorrow I will tell you the results.”
“Alright, goodnight love you.”
“Love you too sweetie.”
*The next day…*
“Alex…I don’t think the game you are playing is good for you and your walk with God.”
“Huh? Can you explain what you’re talking about please? “
“The Bible says you should worship one God, which is our creator. Did you know there are other gods in the game you play?”
“Eh…yeah… I want to quit the game, but I don’t want to at the same time. It doesn’t make since, but that’s how I feel.”
“Well Alex, I am willing to help you if you’re willing to cooperate.”
“Of course Mom, thank you so much. You’re the coolest mother any one could ask for.”
“HAHA! Thanks….I try.”
