Topic: Teacher (10/26/06)
"To teach is to touch a life forever" is a quote that has been proven on numerous occassions in my life. My life has come full circle in the arena of education. I was once a student and now I am an educator who is touching lives and influencing them forever.
Upon reflection, I hear the voices of many of my teachers who played a pivotal role in my education and my decision to become a teacher/mentor.

Two motivational statements from my High School teachers that have shaped my life are:- "Doing Math is like riding a bicycle. You cannot ride it unless you practise.
"IF" is only half of life. The "L&E" mean love everlasting, so whenever you find your passion, love it forever."
Those two statements have been part of the intrinsic forces that have encuracged me to persevere in the face of tremendous challenges.
After graduating from High School, my most natural career choice, was teaching.

Words from the Bible have also assisted me to stay focused on my vocation. "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me" Philippians 4:13; has taken me through many tiring episodes in my career.
"All things are possible to them that believe" Mark 9:23; has made me continue to teach students with learning disabilities despite their apparent lack of learning.
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen" Hebrews 11:1; has made me see the children as productive citizens even when they exhibit the worse behavioral patterns.

I have had great motivators and I have been very successful in my career but the greatest teacher of all times is Jesus. He used "Best Practices" in all His lessons in order to make them memorable and relevant to the listenenrs' lives. He also asked challenging questions that developed their critical thinking skills.
He told parables about the Good Samaritan to people who always traveled far. He told about the person who sowed seeds to the people in the agricultural sector. The person who pruned the vine was used to explain that He is the vine and we are the branches. To the potter He is the potter and we are the clay.
Jesus is the greatest teacher and His examples are still relevant and will continue to be relevant to anyone who wants to be a grat teacher.
As Jesus went around the area teaching, He proved that to walk in a teacher's shoes is both challenging and rewarding.
I invite you to walk in the shoes of a teacher after you have gleaned knowledge from your predecessors, peers and charges. Then seek wisdom from the Father God, who will give you the ability to walk in a real teacher's shoes.

I used to teach elementary school, so I have walked in a teacher's shoes! I know how it can be both a delightful and a difficult career at the same time!

I noticed a few typos in your piece, so you might want to proofread before submitting.

Also, thank you for sharing some great quotes in your article! I especially liked "To teach is to touch a life forever." May our touch always be a positive, truthful, caring one!
