Down by the Mississippi
Throwing bread to ducks
Why don’t green-headed mallards quack?
What about the Canadian geese?
Why are they here so far from home?
Walk a while with me.
Out in the vast green pastures in back of the house
Catching lightening bugs for glow rings
Show me the stars one by one
Which is Orion? Why is it called the Big Dipper?
Where is the Lady of the Moon?
Walk a while with me.
Bright summer day in an airfield with a crowd
Watching stunts and tricks
Tell me the names of those planes
Which one did you fly?
How long were you in World War Two?
Walk a while with me.
Dark night on the river front
Eating cotton candy and elephant ears
Ooooohhhhhh
Awwwwww
I nestle into these memories
On this cool summer night
And ponder
The days that you would walk a while with me.
The fireworks light up the midnight sky
The battles has been fought
The victory is won
I smile to think of your smile
That gentle shake of your head
Delighted to walk with Jesus
A new beginning
Praying
What is forever like?
How much grace do you give?
I long to know
Jesus, walk with me a while.
