David walked the streets in search of coins or dollar bills dropped by accident to the ground. He had managed to find fifty-five cents on his daily walk. “Praise you God for this little gift David declared. A few dollars more and he could buy something to eat for breakfast. He passed by the grocery store and watched as people walked in and out of the store. “One day, with your grace, I too will buy my food in abundance.” David prayed. “Lord, a few dollars more and I can eat.” David prayed. Out of the door of the store a mother and child walked out pushing their cart. The child looked over at David and saw the way he was dressed in poor man’s clothing. “Mommy, can we give him some food.” She asked.

The mother looked at David with compassion and reached into her purse and pulled out a five dollar bill. She gave it to her child and she ran to David and handed him the bill. “God loves you.” She said. “I know He does. Thank you.” David said. David smiled with all the grace of Heaven across his face. He walked into the grocery and walked out with a bottle of orange juice and several bagels.

As David passed the side of the store he noticed two men disposing card board boxes. One was small but the other was very large. David smiled with the radiance of the sun. “Home.” He said. He walked over to the men and asked if he could have the large box. They agreed and David took the box and walked away with glee.
David walked towards the freeway underpass and rested his box on the ground. He took a pocket knife and cut away until he made a makeshift door. He cut open a panel and made a window for himself. David set the box upside down and placed his belongings in the box. Which consisted of a blanket, a coat, and a used pillow.

David reached into his pocket and pulled out a small picture with the image of Jesus drawn on the front. He placed it on the inner wall of the box and blew a kiss to the image. David saw some wild flowers off to side of the road and picked a handful of the purple flowers. He inserted the strong stems in the side of his window and praised God for the beauty of flowers. David sat in his box and ate his breakfast. “I have all I need in you my Lord. One day I will have in abundance with your favor. Thank you for my new home. Bless my home Lord as it is a gift of Your grace. David finished his breakfast and exhaled deeply. “The Lord is my Shepard and I shall not want.” David sang. His heart beat with joyful resonance as he was no longer without a home. Send me an email and let me know what you think. Thanks.
