I thirst for something real
lest I live my life unfulfilled
But the fake and the feigned prevail
in the plastic society

I live in an unreal world
of artificial hills and waterfalls
adorned by false flowers
shone on by unnatural lights

Flawless appearance,
extraordinary manners,
but I saw a hollow person
with fake smiles and empty eyes

Perhaps paid to contrive
to create an impressive facade
like movies reeked of vanity
and shameless pursuit of glory

A sad insight into the mindset
of this world which freely
exchanges the real for the unreal
and keeps company with the mannered

Away from falsity and phonies
I am weary of the synthetic
which squeezes the soul
out of my precious life

I long for an authentic life
A real Saviour for a real sinner
I finally choose Christ
the way, the truth and the life

To live in the real world
by the rules Jesus gave me
His rules demand my integrity,
responsibility, and accountability
