"Warning! The climb to the top of Mt. Washington is hazardous due to sudden severe weather changes ". My father and I climbed the to the top of this mountain the summer I graduated from high school. We were both in top physical shape, having trained by hiking up the steep rugged trail at Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania. You had to follow the white dots on the trees or you would get lost. The climb up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire was so steep that when we arrived at the summit, no trees
were there, only rocks. There was a weather observatory on top to keep track of weather changes. We were prepared but tired. I bought a T-shirt that said, "I climbed Mt. Washington" at the observatory store. We did not climb down as we offered money to a tour van driver to take us and then hiked the last three miles to the car. We were so glad to be back and hungry! We celebrated at a local pizza restaurant and ate an entire pizza pie.
