Topic: fathers (06/06/05)
I was just around two years old when we lived in Hope, B.C. We lived about 15 minutes out of town in American Creek.

My family owned two dogs, Dusty and Nicky. I loved our dogs so much that I would follow them when they wandered off. One day, I followed them across the three-lane highway by our house and into the forest. As I was walking through the woods with the dogs, a bear suddenly popped up in front of us. Dusty and Nicky barked to keep it away. I wouldn’t be here writing this story if my dad hadn’t shown up looking for me. He saw the bear and started to wave his hands, scream, and run towards the bear. Well, the bear was really startled and ran away. When Dad turned around, he saw me smiling at him.

A few years later, when I was about six years old, I was riding with my dad in his pick-up. He stopped at an intersection. A lady in her car was across the street waiting for Dad to go. Dad was about to go, when he saw someone speeding along the road on my side. Dad stopped, and the speeder whizzed right in front of us. The lady and I probably would have been seriously injured or worse if it weren’t for my dad’s awareness and safe driving.

Now, we’ve moved to Princeton, and I’m fifteen. My dad is the pastor of the Princeton Baptist Church. With the help of my dad, an old sailor came to the Lord. At first, the man didn’t even want to go into the church, but now he just loves the Lord. This man is now my guitar teacher.

I’m so proud of my dad. He’s the hero in my life. I praise the Lord with all my heart for my dad. These events that have been written here are all true and just a few of the many things he’s done in my life. Praise the Lord for fathers!

This is the first time that I have used the actual "comments section" so I hope this gets to you. I predict that you and your father will have a love that will transcend time. At 49 years old, I have that type of a love and respect for my father AND my daughter has that type of love for me. Beautiful article. Keep writing.
