And so it came to pass.
The proud father of 5 children.
Overjoyed as each one was born.
As the Father in Heaven wept tears of joy.
They grew up under the scorching African sun
And one by one they died.
Needlessly killed by unnecessary poverty
Murdered by a lack of compassion
As the Father in Heaven wept tears of sorrow.
And if we should meet that father,
What would we say?
For our nation was the murderer
Who needlessly shed the blood of his children
Our lack of compassion killed each one,
Recklessly wasting their lives
In pursuit of our comfort and happiness.
Not for them the joy of fatherhood.
They never had a chance.
And still the Heavenly Father weeps.
For where is His Church
Why did they not cry out,
On behalf of the poor.
Yet in His great mercy
He gives us a chance
To stand up and be counted
To make a difference
To Make Poverty History.
