On a very personal note, I want to thank you for sharing this very personal, and very well written, account of this painful era in your life. My own dear young Dad died of this dreadful illness exactly 12 months before your own attack. Far too young to remember, your account has helped me understand a little more. Thankyou so much for sharing so descriptively such a painful time. Margaret

Excellent writing. The story touches a cord since I have several friends whose lives were forever changed by polio.

I could hear you telling this story. Excellent voice in telling such a personal story.
I was lucky to be born into the era when polio was pretty much eradicated. However when I read the word polio my heart seized up and I could feel it thumping in my chest. I'm so sorry you had to experience that as such a young child but so grateful for you sharing your story. It's important to make sure we never forget,

The tears and heartache come across loud and clear. Thank God for modern vaccination programmes

It reminds me of how fragile the human body is...and how strong the spirt must be to triumph.

Thanks you for this very personal essay. Very well written and compelling. It made me think of my old Sunday School teacher who had a very tall sole on one shoe to make her legs the same length, a victim of polio. I was gripped to the heart thinking of what she must have gone through. Thank you again.

Thank you for giving voice to the suffering of thousands from this horrible disease. It gives me a new emphathy when I see someone still struggling with the effects of the disease.
Congratulations for placing 14th in Masters and 17th overall!
