Nice, homey story. It is a bit like one I almost entered in the challenge for this week, but decided against it. This is a precious story. I enjoyed it...Helen

What a wonderful picture of a father's love.

What a lovely story. Were these meant to be the apostles Peter and Andrew as children? The characterization of Peter seemed right on :)
Very nicely done.

Those last two lines tell a whole different story—very well done.
You've served up a fine meal of a story with so many delectable dishes--the family togetherness, the mother who loves and worries, the father who loves and shows it, the repentant child, and the meal that awaits them all. I love this story. Your message is clear.

As another commenter has mentioned, those last two lines really make the story. Great job!

"Ripped up the book"= disobeyed the law/ scripture. That was subtle and even better done than the last two lines.
