A simple, sweet romance,
I formulated plotline sketch
From which I would advance.
But I was sidetracked from my goal
By just a passing glance
At springtime’s flowers that I watched
Performing sprightly dance.
The way the breeze excited them
Put me into a trance,
And swaying trees that lay beyond
Were added ambience.
The vision through my windowpane
Caused me ambivalence.
I felt compelled to go outside
In such a circumstance.
I’d write my story after while
If I would get a chance.
To waste a pretty day inside
Would surely be a crime.
I settled in a soft lounge chair
With tea and fresh-sliced lime,
Then read the sunny hours away,
My afternoon sublime.
I spent the whole day lazily
Until clock’s evening chime.
Too bad about the plan I’d made—
I’d squandered too much time.
I couldn’t write a story now,
So settled for a rhyme.
