Note to self:
Cheer up. Winter is waning. Truly.
February is a short month and March will blow in right behind. Spring is scheduled to begin in March and Easter is going to squeeze in an appearance too. Soft, sweet April is right around that proverbial corner!
The dirty piles of snow will disappear. The ice, so stubbornly clinging to the sidewalk on the shady side of the house, will melt. The stark, gnarly limbs will swell and green with buds, the grass will come alive, the robins will return. The muck and mud of the garden will dry and mellow. Crocuses will burst out of winter sleep. God promised this return of seed time to Noah for ever and ever. Believe.
Put away the nativity scene. Remove the “Let it Snow” plaque by the front door, replace it with the tulip wall hanging. While in the storage room, hunt up that fake but cheerful bouquet of daffodils.
Tomorrow’s forecast: Sunny, 44 degrees, light wind. Skip the treadmill, put on coat, call the dog and take a real walk. Might need boots.
