Thirsty For More

God formed me for His pleasure,
Yes, He delights in me,
But a heav'nly blog is what I need,
I've been an absentee.

I know there's something missing,
A restlessness astir,
A longing that I can't express,
Each moment I incur.

I used to feel His presence,
His heartbeat next to mine,
A dialogue between us two
That surely was divine.

Returning to that fountain
Where He can quench my thirst,
A heav'nly blog that I have missed
Where longing souls conversed.

His Spirit's stirring in me,
Desiring something more,
A hunger for His fellowship,
His essence on me pour.

Surrounded by His loving arms
And cherished I would feel,
Distractions that have drawn away,
His presence they would steal.

Dissatisfaction in my heart,
I'm made for something more,
He's drawing me, back to His heart,
To arms I felt before.

I want to know what's in His heart,
What He would have me know,
The constant conversation
That sets my heart aglow.

Thirsty for communion,
I've tasted the divine,
There is a vacuum deep within
That's His by His design.


O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The world is perishing for lack of the knowledge of God and the Church is famishing for want of His presence.

I like this. There are some really good reminders here.

I felt this was a bit weak on topic.

Great job with this. I love the feelings conveyed.

Beautifully done! Brava! I loved the depth and emotions this lovely poem invoked..I heard the writer's heart and cries for our Lord.

And, He is always there to waiting for His children to come back home. Loved it!

Very open-hearted approach, almost in line with psalms 42-43, but I feel the quote from AW Tozer needs a clearer introduction - either through italics or perhaps through quotation marks.
