In my mind it sounds great but in the end it’s hum-drum.
Certainly the idea’s mine, no one else had it right?
I woke up with the story in the dark of the night.
Let me tell ya this though, something readers don’t know,
Often I worry about the idea and the flow.
What if it’s taken and I hadn’t heard?
Someone else wrote it and I had no word.
“I’ve heard this before, the story’s the same,
Your plotting is cheesy and the character’s lame."
Cut’s to my heart that knowledge does,
I need the “what’s new” not the “what was.”
How do I know that my story’s not trite?
I try keepin’ it fresh with all of my might.
People say it’s not different, they’ve heard it before,
Hey, didn’t I just say that? Oh, problems galore!
I need something new, I need something hoppin’
I need something zany, funky, and poppin’!
Okay, maybe not zany or funky per sé,
But I at least need something that isn’t cliché!
Enough of that whining, it don’t help me none,
Maybe I’ll just write and have me some fun.
It may not be perfect, it may not be great,
I’ll probably be up really, really late.
But if God gives me something He wants me to say,
I’ll find a way to say it, and above all I’ll pray:
“Lord, show me how to write this in the very best way,
To portray Your message ... and not sound cliché.”

Good job with the bolded letters too!
It's nice to read something on the light side!
Thanks
