You talking to me?
Allow me to introduce myself: I'm God.
You're kidding, right?
Well, I do have a sense of humor but I'm spot on here: Yup. God. That would be me.
Wow- God? Umm, sir, it's such an honor to meet you (gulp). I mean I've known you for some time but ...it's a little overwhelming. I'm not really sure what to say...
It's nice to meet you and I've known you for a while as well. In fact, I knew you before you were born as I knit you together in your mother's womb. You are my masterpiece, created to do good works already prepared for you.
You actually have a plan already in place? I've always heard that but...for real?
I know the plans I have for you, to give you a future and a hope. Part of the plan involves writing for me. Haven't you wondered where that passionate urge comes from?
As a matter of fact I have. My mind just seems to shoot in crazy directions, making up stories, zipping hither and yon. I never realized that you might be involved. This drive, the fervor to create is sometimes so strong, I'm totally overwhelmed. I want to be like a tour guide, taking people to the farthest outposts of my mind. I yearn to share adventures and love and, of course, you. I feel such an earnest desire to share what you have done for me and to show what an awesome God you are!
Well, gee, Writer, thanks for that- really appreciate the gesture but it's about you too.
Huh? I'm confused.
Let me explain. Remember when you started to hear my voice about writing? I planted a seed in you that began to develop over time. It has grown and matured as I've molded you into the skilled craftsman I want you to be. The good news is that I'm not finished yet-it's an ongoing process.
I'm really glad to hear that, God, because I feel so inadequate most of the time. All this stuff kind of swirls around in me and sometimes, I feel like I'll just bust if it doesn't get out.
You have done well, my child. You continue to grow and strive for progress. Know that I'm very proud of you. You will be approved as the result of your labor, ready to be used for every good work. And also bear much fruit for the kingdom.
Thank you so much for that, sir, but most of the time I'm so befuddled, I can barely get a word on the page. Direction often escapes me and I'm unsure of where to go.
Well, son, you writers are the ones that always say 'write what you know'. Doesn't that mean to draw upon your experiences, strengths-even the bad stuff? Haven't you heard the whole 'what Satan intended for evil, God will use for good' thing? Nothing in your life has happened by accident. Even the darkest times can be used to help someone else that may be struggling. Your victory could be exactly what they need to find me.
Wow. That's a huge responsibility. I don't really feel up to the task. Are you sure you want to use me?
That goes back to what we talked about before: The good works I prepared in advance for you are a natural outpouring from your heart. You are saved FOR good works-not BY good works. Yes, you must hone your craft as a wordsmith but because you belong to me, the love of my son invades you and you just can't help but serve. Your service assignment as a writer is to bear fruit for me by using your natural affinity for words to carry my message. Does that make you feel any better?
Oh yes, it does. Even though it's a bit scary, since you'll be with me, I can do it. I can do this. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, right?
Exactly, my son. Now be on your way. Go and write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
