Billy couldn’t shake the fearful emotions that invaded his mind. He knew Devin was one of the toughest kids in the school. And most people had heard the old saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” In fact, Billy started to say those words out loud to Jimmy Gordon, but he decided it made him sound too much like a chicken.
“Ya, know what, Jimmy? If I didn’t know any better, why I’d think you are trying to get me to go up and start a fight with Mandameyer because last year he said you looked like a troll on steroids,” Billy argued.
“That’s got nothing to do with it, Billy! I think trolls are cool, actually. I just want you to defend your honor and pride, that’s all,” Jimmy replied.
Billy thought about what Jimmy had just said. Next, he thought about what his grandmother had always told him concerning people we might consider our enemies: “The Bible says, ‘If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,’ his grandmother had always informed him. It was from Proverbs 25:21-22 (NIV).
Well, I think punks are cool, so I’m not really upset about what Devin said. And by the way, how bout I buy your lunch today…just as a token of my appreciation for you being such a good friend.
“Ummm…well, sure, that would be cool,” Jimmy Gordon replied. “Hey, Billy, is it hot in here to you? My head is sweating like crazy, almost like it’s on fire!”
Billy smiled and thanked his grandmother for such amazing words of wisdom.

I was a bit confused at the end, though--I thought Devin was the "enemy", not Jimmy. And some missing quotation marks caused me to backtrack a bit.
I can see Billy Buford as a continuing character in children's Sunday School stories.
Good job.
