Will shake our future at the core;
Who would have known what God would spark
The day I met the girl next door—
A summer day designed for walks,
My mind filled with the days gone by,
Along came skipping merrily
A lass ’round whom the fairies fly;
By fairy schemes she tripped mid stride;
I found the dreams I did not seek
As she had tumbled in my arms
And rosebuds bloomed upon her cheek.
That day new joy had dawned in life,
So many hopes and dreams were born,
I soon sought entrance in the heart
Of she I loved, who lived next door…
Abashed, so many awkward moments
Accompanied the following weeks,
But with each one I loved her more
As rosebuds bloomed upon her cheek.
One day, the blush I’d come to cherish
Had dawned because of something new,
When happiness had fueled the flame
To paint her cheek a lovely hue:
I asked her if she’d be my bride,
And ecstasy had reached its peak
When she replied with sparkling eyes
And rosebuds blooming on her cheek.
