I see her riding on a runaway roan
Out-of-control
Screaming
Arms waving
Red hair streaming
Eye’s wide in terror.
I’m coming!
I take pursuit on my painted palomino
Galloping gallantly
Leather stirrup smacking
Pulse pounding
Palms perspiring
Eyes focused on the dust trail ahead.
Yee-ha!
Billowing black clouds bellow from above
Sweltering heat switches cold
Thunderheads roar
Lightning bolts flash
Rain sheets slash
Wind whips wild while I give chase.
I love you!
Hoping Heaven hears my heralding heart
Singing Rebecca’s song
Chancing to be noticed
Prayerfully pleading
Wantonly wishing
To hear her say, My hero.
I’m here!
Reaching for the reins of the racing roan
Faces soaked in storm
Eyes blinking blindly
Forearms flexed
Denim drenched
Pulling the startled steed to stop.
Whoa!
Silently standing in diminishing showers
Ponies panting
Clouds clearing
Sunlight searching
Raindrops drying
She takes hold of my hardened hand.
Praise the Lord!
Pulling her closely in comfort care
Clearing her face of frizzled hair
Eyes sharing gazes
Lips smiling shyly
She whispers so softly
My hero.
Rebecca!

I enjoyed the imagery of this romantic poem.
