Dependent for everything.
Looking up at creation’s dance,
Tiny bells a small noise bring.
I moved into the starting school,
The world just seemed so big.
I joined with others of my size,
The country school would be our gig.
The high school days still seem a blur,
It was hard to just fit in.
A date or two I wish I had,
Thinking I could never win.
Then off to war to fight the fight,
Our enemy seemed so near.
Wondering if I might escape,
My heart was so filled with fear.
I made it home and found my spouse,
A job to pay all the bills.
Children came with the sum of eight,
Some sorrows but many thrills.
Retirement creeping at my door,
I wonder what we will do.
A trip or two and failing health,
The nursing home we’ll pursue.
We’re back to being dependent,
We need help with everything.
Fifty plus years of marriage bliss,
My finger still wears the ring.
There’s one thing God taught me through time,
Is Faithfulness comes from Him.
Life is just a fleeting moment,
A year is just a mere whim.
