drove the block and a half to my mother’s home, got out and went in to wait while she
finished getting ready.
All ready, we walked out to the car. I reached to open the car door, but something
caught my eyes. Several vertical jagged splits in both driver’s side tires stared back at
me. Nearly a quarter inch across and three to four inches long! “Mom, come look at
this!”
She came around and looked. “Oh, my. I’d better drive.”
“Yeah, I’m not driving this car anywhere but home.” She followed me the short distance
to my house, I parked the car in the driveway, and we left to get our groceries.
When I got home my daughter had also arrived home. “Kathy, come look at my tires.”
She looked, saw the splits, and couldn’t believe it. We’d never seen such a thing.
When my husband got home from work, I asked him to go look at the tires. He came
back in the house. “I didn’t see anything.”
“What?” We both went back outside. The splits were gone! “What happened?”
My mother, my daughter, and I had all seen the jagged splits in the sides of the tires.
Someone suggested that perhaps they only showed when the tires were in a certain
position. “No,” I said. “We saw them at Mom’s, they were showing here in the drive,
and the car hasn’t been moved since!”
The next day, my husband took the car to the local garage and the mechanic checked
the tires. They didn’t find any large vertical splits. But the mechanic did find tiny cracks
circling the whole tire near the rim. “It’s a good thing she didn’t drive this, they could
have blown.”
God knew I never would have seen the tiny cracked lines on the tires that day. I would
have driven that car. He protected us by permitting me to see huge splits in the sides of
the tires. And when no longer needed, they disappeared. How amazing is our God?
God is not a respecter of persons. What He does for one He will do for another. Know
that He is faithful and you can trust Him to completely care for you. Even protecting you
by letting you see things that aren’t even there.
Proverbs 2:8 NIV says, “for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His
faithful ones.”
A true story.

This may be a personal thing, but the first few paragraphs of this piece seemed choppy. A bit into it, though, it really started to flow, and I was taken away with you.
Well written, easy to read, flowed nicely. Good job.
