TITLE: A LIttle Encouragement By Penny Williams 08/09/04 |
|
I must have been just about four years old, and played frequently on the wide sidewalk that ran in front of our big white house. Several times a week, a bigger boy from down the block came along on his bicycle and ran me off the slate walk.
My parents witnessed this several times. Wow, a lot like God, Who watches as we "take it from the enemy" many times over.
Finally, they had enough, and I guess I did, as well, because they advised me "not to take it any more".
The next time that boy came by, aiming at me as I played hopscotch, I grabbed him right off that bike and threw him to the ground. Not bad for a girl, was it?
God also allows us to fall and fail until we have had enough and cry out to Him to save us. Doesn't He just show us the way to succeed, then?
Like David, crying out to his Lord, I "tattled" and received the encouragement I needed to become a winner.
We are winners, no matter what bullies in our lives assail us, if we walk steadfastly with the Master.
That boy never bothered me again, and in fact showed me respect from that day forward. So, too, do our enemies finally bow down to the One Who saves us.
