Where sin’s running rampant and God is despised
Where evil’s promoted and goodness excluded
The false is accepted and truth is revised.
To conquer this darkness we’ve need of a Saviour,
Someone to rise up Who will put things aright—
A virtuous One who without fear or favour
Will vanquish the vile and in good will delight.
Should He come in judgement we’d all be indicted
For we are all guilty—the whole human race;
Through Christ all our guilt is so fully requited—
For those who believe He extends to us grace.
God’s grace is not merited, we cannot earn it,
Completely of God as we contribute nought—
God’s grace so amazing—take care you don’t spurn it!
Is free to believers and needs to be sought.
There is no one righteous—we all are unholy,
The wages of death we have earned by our deeds;
The verdict’s the same for the famed and the lowly—
Death’s curse is our sentence but grace intercedes.
Only in Christ is the darkness defeated,
He alone is the answer but you must decide—
In a day yet to come redemption’s completed
And God is exalted in saints glorified.
The Kingdom’s established, the King rules in glory—
Tranquility reigns in the Heavenly place,
Millions assembled—the angels cry “Holy”—
Perfect finale to wonderful grace.
