Like gold of the absolute grade,
When tried in the fire of affliction
The depth of its value portrayed.
By fire gold is tested, refined,
This treatment removes all the dross,
Made pure by the heat of the furnace,
The outcome is well worth the cost.
Recalling the boys in the furnace
Who trusted in spite of the cost
Whom God in His mercy delivered—
Not one hair of their heads was lost!
Their faith still speaks down the ages—
A vivid depiction of trust;
Through trial and trouble triumphing—
Their faith still a beacon to us.
Take heart when facing dilemma
Committing your ways to The Lord,
The work that He does in refining
Holds promise of precious reward.
As with the boys in the furnace
The Lord is with us in the flame
And He will most surely deliver—
Our God and their God is the same.
All glory to God for His wisdom
Who works everything for our gain,
Our Father Whose love is unfailing,
All praise to His wonderful name.
