Though my world is crumbling, I still need to sing
Sunshine comes tapping, I open the shade
Why are there clouds over promises made
Please give me something to which I can hold
My faith is waning, though once it was bold
Before the enemy seemed so far away
But nearer he comes, and I am his prey
Please give me something on which to depend
No more lies with smiles that only pretend
Raw wounds need dressing, but first they must bleed
Spilling the poisons from their sinful deeds
Please give me a hand, I’m feeling quite faint
On subconscious walls I see pictures in paint
Each picture speaks maybe one thousand words
There’s a man with scarred hands--I feel reassured
He gave me His promise to help me be strong
He gave me some wisdom to know right from wrong
His eyes were so kind--I love you, they spoke
He gave a warm hug, and then I awoke
I believed in that dream without hesitation
I’ll never dismiss it as imagination
Each supportive word helped me face my tomorrows
Without harboring anger, bitterness and sorrows
Encouragement came that spirit-filled night
Which changed me forever, it gave my fears flight
Though this world seems chaotic, and forces are dueling
Everything created is under God’s ruling
I asked for something to which I could cling
He gave me hope and now I can sing
I asked for something on which to depend
“Through Me,” He said, “your life shall not end”
