The house now so dated.
The large portrait soothes.
on the mantle still slated.
Two faces of youth,
Two became one.
Two spoke in truth
of dreams yet to come.
He’s worked every day.
He’s tried to provide.
He prays he’s enough
for his lovely bride.
She’s tired. She’s bearing
his children, each one.
She’s praying, she’s caring
making life something fun.
Years pass by so quickly.
Life proves it is hard.
Their roots entwined thickly.
They've come very far.
Each burden they’ve shared.
since they both said, “I do”.
Still dream what they dare.
There’s much left to do.
They’re wise now and seeing
the lives that they’ve lived.
They’re happy just being
two committed old kids.
He clutches her hand
With him she feels safe.
They give thanks to God
in prayers and with faith.
Smooth floors, dated homes,
portrait’s dreams believed,
show some of the meaning
of two who do cleave.
