or the sphinx
the sheer enormity
of man’s creativity
and resourcefulness
in creating epoch
lasting gigantic
creations
does that make you gawk

timeless works of art
perhaps
mona lisa
marble david
sistine chapel
roman mosaic
intricate designs
pleasing palettes
drawing emotions
from your soul
does that make you gawk
cease talking
stare in wonder
and declare
it’s marvellous
nature’s majesty
perhaps
craggy peaks
rushing rivers
canyons deep
desert springs
thunder roaring
stars revolving
feeling small
compared to all
does that make you gawk
cease talking
stare in wonder
and declare
it’s marvellous
but this world is created
man’s talents a gift
his achievements all borrowed
from the One who is
marvellous
no architecture deserves
my praise
no artwork is worthy
of my awe
nature is not to be exalted
above the One who is
marvellous
i gawk at God’s majesty
cease talking in His presence
stare in wonder at His works
and declare
He alone is
marvellous
