The funeral in progress was about to end.
Jesus really wanted to give them hope,
Not just for today but for the weeks ahead.
How were they going to cope?
Would they remember what He said?
Throat aching, heart breaking, shoulders shaking;
Tears flowed as He pled,
“Father, help them see who I really am—
Your spotless Lamb.”
Another day, another crowd,
Triumphantly, they hailed Him king.
They did not know what the week would bring.
Would their promises be kept?
Eyes sweeping the crowd, He bowed His head and wept.
Throat aching, heart breaking, shoulders shaking,
He grieved for what could have been,
If only they had never sinned.
“Father, help them see who I really am—
Your spotless Lamb.”
He wants to give you hope and peace.
Hope and peace that will never cease.
What did He say that day on the Mount?
He declared what none would ever guess.
“In my kingdom, they that mourn, will be blessed.”
Are you longing for that hope and peace?
Is your heart breaking? Hot tears racing?
Grieving for what may have been?
Call on Jesus. He paid the price.
The spotless Lamb redeemed all sin.
