I needed release,
to let out some pain
and try to stay sane.
Had poems to write
with no end in sight.
It was a phase
to work through sad haze.
I was told to stop,
but I could not.
Well meaning, yes,
but hurt nonetheless.
A friend for years
brought me to tears.
Others agreed,
I didn’t heed,
I didn’t fight,
but did what was right.
in my core knowing,
to keep on going.
My heart had a need,
and I let it bleed.
In back of my mind,
I thought that in time,
there might be more
God had in store.
I picked out the best,
and wrote the rest.
A book was born
to help those who mourn.
It means so much
to know they are touched.
When it’s your time,
please keep in mind,
when someone is gone,
if you move on
or sing a sad song,
aren’t doing it wrong.
If they don’t agree,
just know you don’t need
to express yourself
like anyone else.
Do what you ought,
it matters not
what others say.
You’ll find your way.
You’ll find your release,
God’s comfort, and peace.
