“Good. Bobby’s asleep,” murmured Holiab as he stood by the bedside. “What a day this has been.”
“I agree,” came a voice from above.
“Jesus, keeping him safe is a full-time job,” said Holiab.
“That is why I assigned him to you. You are one of my best Guardian Angels. The Father agrees. He remembers what you did at the Red Sea Crossing. The little girl was terrified, and you were able to help her through it. That’s just one example of what you’ve done. The Father calls you a Protector.”
“Thank you for your trust in me. For a seven-year-old, Bobby gets in a lot of mischief,” replied Holiab.
“I know. I was watching to see what you would do.”
“I was able to get him away from the street before that truck hit him. He hasn’t learned to look both ways yet. That soccer ball he kicked almost got him killed.”
“I know,” Jesus answered. “I was watching. You saved Bobby’s life today.”
“I know. It’s not the first time I’ve had to save him. I had to step in when he got choked on that piece of candy. His lips were turning blue, and his parents were frantic. I could dislodge it without it appearing like it was a miracle.”
“I remember,” said the Jesus.
“Satan keeps trying. He knows that if he gets to Bobby, he might destroy his family. I can’t let that happen.”
“Didn’t something else happen that needed your attention?” asked Jesus.
“Yes. Satan tried again this afternoon. That rottweiler came out of nowhere and was in his face immediately. It was amazing how my presence backed him down. Animals can sense my presence in a way that humans can’t. It turned tail and ran away howling. If I hadn’t been there, Bobby might have been killed,” offered Holiab.
“Satan won’t quit. Keep watching over Bobby. Did you clear his bedroom before he went to bed?” asked Jesus.
“Of course. I had to run a demon out of there. He slunk away like the coward he is. He knows that your power emanates around Bobby. Satan’s minions know they can’t win, but they keep trying.”
“Holiab, I know that I can depend on you. You are one of my Protectors of my Children.”
“Thank you, Jesus. I will do my best,” answered Holiab.
“I know you will. Who knows what Satan will try tomorrow? I depend on you, Holiab.”
“I will not fail you.”
“I know you won’t. Be valiant, be courageous, and be ready, my Guardian Angel. Be ready.”
