are devastations
of diverse kinds
giving birth
to unforeseen harm
unwanted
undesired
unmeditated
never aspired
by victims like us
Like a damaged dam
it floods and cascades
where it flows
causing havoc to life stocks
and crops below
Like a burst pipe
messing up the area
mingling with water dirt and mud
wasting precious resources
in much needed dry and thirsty lands
Like a broken bridge
at cold Baltimore River
sending cars plunging
causing workers’ death
and missing crew
Like a wild animal
escape from the zoo
bringing anxieties and worries
untold harm and suffering
oftentimes
Violation of friendship and family
can break up
what we have laboured
and long cherished
devastating is the impact
Blessed be the ties
and fellowship
that in Christ we enjoy
let not storms and lightnings
shatter our unity and bond
May we focus on Christ
Captain of our life
who leads us
like a Great Shepherd
with love and tenderness
May each one of us
be a weaned child
able to take solid food
who hears His voice
never falters and wonders
O Lord
Let us declare
no more violations
whatsoever and wheresoever
in Your precious name
