A picture of tranquility;
Each seems to be a homely place,
A safe, secure and happy space.
Both look fail-safe and built to last,
To shield from heat and winter’s blast,
Idyllic setting to the eye
Of all the people passing by.
But there’s a fault well hid from sight
That raging storms will bring to light—
One house on solid rock is built,
The other stands on sandy silt.
When all is calm both look at ease
But storms will come and angry seas;
Foundations formed in sand will fail—
Good looks are then to no avail.
The parallel is there to see,
How this applies to you and me—
If on Christ, the Rock you’re found
You’ve built your life on solid ground.
If man, in man-made precepts trusts,
Forgetting that he’s made from dust,
How great will be his sad demise
Whose built his house on Satan’s lies.
Halt for a moment and take stock!
Get off the sand, build on the Rock!
The foolish builder fails to see
Our house is for eternity.
