Once upon a time,
When a beauty star I was,
Everyone admired me,
Like simpletons gazing at horizons,
Or tourists at ocean waves.
When once a beauty star I was,
Presidents and their wives alike,
Sent me divers invitations-
To attend magnificent parties,
But now that I am no more,
No one remembers me anymore,
And no one cries any longer.
Now that a beauty star,
I am no longer,
No one admires me anymore,
Instead my wrinkles scare away,
Those that were once my admirers,
Like a shadow scares a drunkard.
Like a beauty star I once was,
My skin, as cute as ever
I attracted both young and old,
Mesmerised the rich and poor
But now that I am no longer
Even journalists no longer photo me.
Poor mom, were you to breast feed me again,
Your mammary glands wouldn’t respond
To my baby-pool;
My tummy would regurgitate
All that nurtured all my beauty –
That once exuded my stardom.
