“He’s coming today,” the gard’ner said to the sun.
“Gorgeous day, shall I run and tell everyone?”
Or stand in wait,
sweat all day?”
The sun said, “Lay in the grass, soak up my warm caress.”
“Endearing Sun, I cherish your warm embrace.
But the King is coming—the royal King. I shall make haste.
Shall I make stew
Of my fattened cow, Stu?”
Sun said, “Charming you are, but the King has eaten.”
“Oh, the King is coming, he’s passing by my garden.
What shall I do?” he asked the wind.
“Shall I dig more
And plant a sycamore?”
“Nay, lay in the greens, feel the breeze pulsate life within.”
Lying in the green grass, “The King is coming,” she said to the sky.
The sky said, “Everyday you dig, weed, clean, sow and grow.”
But today you rest,
Marvel all, is best.
Before you know it, your King will come by and by.”
The gardener filled with joy, “What shall I do?” he asked the lovebirds.
“Shall I catch you, cage you so you can sing to the King?”
“Such a sweet dear you are,
We’d love to, but we’ve better idea:
you sing in your garden, we’ll join you make melody to the King!”
“The King is coming today! He’s passing by my garden,”
Gardener said to the lemon tree heaped with golden lemons.
“What shall we do?
What shall we make?”
“Your kids will make lemonade and serve your neighbours and King.”
“The King is coming. What shall I do?”
Gard’ner asked the monarch, bees, and ladybugs.
“Take your time
and watch us charm
the blue rose, lilies, daffodils and cherry blooms.”
“The King’s not too far off in coming yet,
I’ll climb up the tree with Jo, Isaac, and Judy.
We might see
The sight of the King
might be better up there, how happy that would be.”
“Mom, Dad! We’re chasing the hens
to see if they’re scared of our scarecrow!”
Little Jill toddled along,
Baby Jer dug up a worm.
“What’re they up to?” And she hoisted baby in her arms.
“This Kingdom is your beloved King’s—
the King you adore and delight His coming.”
“Huh, who’s here?”
asked the gardener.
“The ant,” smack dubbed its lips,“I take it why you’re wonderin.’
“I love the King with all of my heart and soul.
I wait for His return. I want to serve Him my all”
While in my world—
my garden—
tend it, work it, delight in it and hear His call.”
“My King of all kings is coming,” the gardener says.
I will make my garden a marvelling place.
I will show kindnesses as I wait
When He comes today,
How precious to face my beloved King, He’ll say, “
‘Come, you have been faithful and true.’
