Anyway, I took the seat that she warmly indicated, my husband took the one right next to it and I was immediately distracted by the lit-up-in red, orange, blue, yellow and green keys on her keyboard.
“I’ve never seen a keyboard like that before!” I marveled.
“Oh yeah, it’s great! You know you can find pretty much anything you want out there to buy. Yeah, I love to look and I love to buy. I have a shopping addiction. Stores love me. My credit card company? Not so much.” She laughed a dry laugh and shrugged.
“Now, I’ll just ask a few screening questions and get your signature a few places, give you some info – don’t worry, it’s all on the forms – you don’t have to memorize any of it. I’ll send it home with you.”
I smiled and relaxed. She was kind and patient, knowledgeable and helpful. Her fingers flew over those lit up keys as her quirky voice poured out information.
“And for the follow-up – two weeks after the procedure you can have a telehealth-visit. Doc will send a link to your phone at an appointed time. You click on it and up pops his face. You take your phone and scan over the site like this.” She moved her phone camera lens over her wrist. “And he sees how it’s healing. Of course, give him about five minutes before or after the appointed time – he might be chatty with everyone he has to see, especially with it being close to Christmas.”
Her eyes lit up at the word Christmas and that pleased me. Still I thought, chatty? He’d seemed more a right-to-the-point person to me. Professional and kind, but chatty? Then I considered that I already felt like a ‘BFF’ to this woman whom I’d spent only ten minutes with. I have no doubt she could bring out the ‘chatty’ in a person.
“Okay, well you’re good to go.” She smiled and stood. “It was great to meet you. I hope it all goes perfect for you. The elevator’s to the left and then it’s straight out. Have a great day!”
And my day felt like it would be great.
“I really liked her,” I said to my husband. “I’d like to let her department know what a great job she does. We’ll have to find out her name.” And then – I don’t always have these thoughts but the Lord feels this way about everyone, I knew I wanted to see her in heaven someday.
I really do need to find out her name.
